Powerpoint is a well known and very popular presentation tool. Powerpoint is a very good way of displaying static information to an audience. After completing the tutorial i learned a whole new way of making a powerpoint presentation. I waisted less time playing with the layout and concentrated more on the content a wanted to display.
The List is endless when it comes to the way in which i could use powerpoint in my classroom. Some ideas include: to introduce a new topic, showing information about a topic, photo slides, students presentations, learning journey and class notes.
The down sides of Powerpoint are: the amount of time it takes to create a powerpoint and the graphics and music could be distracting.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI agree with PowerPoint being a good way to display static information, (and really liked the examples, I actually hadn't thought of using it to introduce a topic. to me, I saw it as the 'body' of a topic, so thank you for that!)
Have you also thought of using it as a discussion tool? instead of displaying the information in a PowerPoint, display guiding questions that the students can discuss.
Hey Andrew,
ReplyDeleteI actually didn't think of that! Using powerpoint as a discussion tool would be great option to use in my year 11 PE class. I often find when we are a task and i ask them to discuss with their peers a topic and usually within 3 minutes they start talking other matters. Prompting students discussion is another great use of powerpoint. Overall i think powerpoint is a amazing tool to have in the classroom to present knowledge to our students.
The list really is endless when it comes to Powerpoint.
Thanks Andrew
